The Minnesota Vikings played in Buffalo against the Bills on Thursday night in their first preseason game of the 2017-2018 season. The Vikings won the game 17-10. Shockingly, no missed extra points! There was plenty to see, good and bad.
The offense was rough at times. The offensive line was not holding up and there was severe pressure getting to Bradford. He was hit, sacked, and forced to rush passes. This needs to improve in order for the offense to be successful. There is no way a quarterback can perform his best with a poor offensive line and it is difficult for an offense to perform well without their quarterback playing to his potential.
The run blocking was not as bad as the pass blocking. Rookie Dalvin Cook was impressive at running back and had some nice moves and gained good amounts of yardage when it looked like he would not be able to.
The receiving corps looked pretty nice. Rookie Stacy Coley had 3 receptions for 67 yards, including a nice 38 yard gain. Another rookie Rodney Adams looked good and had a touchdown. He also returned punts and kicks. He muffed a punt, but looked very good returning kickoffs. Another quick special teams note. Rookie punter Taylor Symmank booted three punts inside the 20 yard line.
The Vikings play this Friday the 18th at 10PM EST in Seattle facing the Seahawks for their week 2 match up of the preseason.
